Check box to stay logged in:

If you check the "stay logged in" checkbox, you won't have to sign in each time you come back when on this computer. Instead, you will be automatically logged in and taken directly to the schedule. The "stay logged in" feature lasts approximately thirty days (or until you either click the "Log Out" button or clear your browser's cookies).

Additionally, simply refreshing your window will log you in if you are timed out of the system after a period of inactivity. This means, for example, that you can go to the "Control Panel," walk away from your computer for a few hours, and simply click "refresh" when returning to begin working with the control panel again.

If you use a shared or public computer (such as in a computer lab or library), you should not check the "stay logged in" checkbox.

Announcements

The Writing Center Fall Spring 2012 semester schedule is now up and running. The Writing Center will be open from Jan. 17th through the end of regular classes. Additional hours during finals week will be announced and added towards the end of the semester.

Welcome to the SMSU Writing Center! If you haven't visited the Writing Center before, please register for an account by clicking the link to the left. Thank you!

Please note: when making an appointment, you will be asked if you want a face-to-face meeting with a writing consultant in BA 527, an online email consultation, or an online chat session.

If you choose an online email consultation, you are making an appointment for your paper to be reviewed. After saving the appointment time, you need to then attach your paper using the yellow folder icon at the top of the schedule. The Writing Center consultant will use the appointment time to review your paper and insert comments. The paper will be returned to you via the your email at the end of the appointment time.

If you choose an online chat appointment, please log back in here at the start of your appointment time and click on the appointment box in the schedule. There you should see a link to start or join the chat. When you enter the chat, you'll have the option to paste in your paper to a whiteboard where both you and the tutor can make notes on it.

When you come in for your Writing Center appointment, you will work with a Writing Consultant who will help you on an individual basis. Writing Consultants can work with you on any kind of paper for any class, and at any stage of the writing, whether you need help identifying a topic, organizing the ideas, learning how to cite appropriately, or using punctuation correctly. You are free to come in for help with a particular assignment, or you can work with the Writing Center staff on a continuing basis throughout the semester.
